X boat at the Dinghy Show

Wow what a weekend following a suggestion by John Tremlett to take a boat to the RYA Dinghy and Watersport Show! Thom Board kindly leant his beautifully restored Lucrezia X140.
With Thom and Nancy on honeymoon in Scotland, we showed many interested viewers, young and old, and we all appreciated what an amazing job Thom and his helpers have done. So much so that she was voted 2nd overall in the show in the Concours D’elegance.

It was good to hear positive feedback and that the new 4 up rule has encouraged family boats to enter the bicentennial Cowes Week. We are already at 26 entries with at least 2 youth bursary entries to come and we’re in for a great week.
We had some great video footage including “The long run home” from Cowes Week 2023 which showed Basher Baines last Cowes Week win. Basher’s funeral is this Thursday, in addition we will be sailing around a mark (3C) dedicated to him at Cowes Week and raising a glass to him at Basher’s Bash on the Tuesday of Cowes Week. Thank you to all those who have contributed towards this.
Special thanks to Thom and Nancy; John Tremlett and Haines for the viewing platform; Barry and Carol Dunning, Colin McKinnon, Dick Batt, Henry and Jo Murray Smith, Alex Paton and Eliot Motherwell for showing our visitors around. Also, a thanks to Shaun Norris for his IT expertise.
A fun weekend – we should do this again!
