There were 27 entries for the week this year including nine visitors (one sailing a local boat) and a good turnout from the growing home fleet. We experienced a variety of conditions with the wind generally dropping during the week after the first day’s racing was abandoned due to the conditions. By contrast we had another day when the fleet was becalmed off Brownsea Castle in company with most of the dinghy fleets and a certain amount of passing commercial traffic!
For the most part, however, Poole Harbour provided some sparkling racing conditions with windward leeward courses interspersed with some more navigational courses. The Race Officer worked hard to give us what we wanted despite last minute wind shifts etc with two races each afternoon. Three social events were also held during the week which provided an opportunity for people to meet up and discuss the day’s triumphs and disasters. One was to celebrate the 100th birthday of X12 Dawn owned by Mark and Tessa Woodhouse and Dawn was dressed overall for the occasion.
The week was won by John Tremlett in X91 Astralita, second was Nik Froud in X72 Venus and third, Penny Fulford in X58 Madeleine.
